I studied the BSc (Hons) Software Development at Teesside University achieving first degree honours, with a placement year at DuPont Teijin Films, graduating in 2012. I was awarded two Expotees 2012 Awards, the ‘Computer Science & Networking award’ by Sage and the CBeebies ‘Life’s a Pitch’ award. I have attended courses / masterclasses to improve my game development and QA skills. In March 2016, I was delighted to be accepted into the BAFTA crew games programme. In March 2017, I received an honourable mention in Develop magazine’s 30 under 30 as well as joined the Video Game STEM Ambassador program. In April 2018, I was announced as one of the GI.BIZ 100 Future Talent. I’ve also been a Juror on the BAFTA Games and YGD Panels.

Experience

Lead Game Systems Engineer, Jagex Games Studio, April 2022 – Present

  • As lead of the OSRS platform team, I am responsible for the development of new and existing game systems / services (Java) as well as the core engine, client and server architecture of Old School RuneScape.

(Senior) Game Engine Developer, Jagex Games Studio, June 2016 – August 2016 – April 2022

  • My primary focus was developing the BAFTA EE Mobile Game of the Year Award winning & Develop:Star Best Mobile Game award winning Old School RuneScape for mobile (iOS / Android).
  • I am responsible for the development of OSRS for mobile platforms.
  • I represent Jagex at events such as RuneFest, careers fairs, games jams & festivals as well as deliver talks at universities.

Junior Software Developer, Synoptics Ltd, August 2012 – April 2013

  • I was responsible for the development of ProtoCOL 3 & GeneSys (C# & WinForms / WPF).

Part-Time Software Developer, Business Search Local, September 2011 – August 2012

  • I developed a C# application with a master / slave architecture which connected to Nominet DAC / EPP servers and networked nodes (TCP) for domain name purchasing.

Software Developer, DuPont Teijin Films, August 2010 – August 2011

  • I was responsible for the development of VidiScan (C# / WinForms), the live streaming process line surveillance system which created archived video, triggered by fault incidents.
