Animex 2013: Day 5 Animex Talk
The final day of Animex 2013! 🙁 It has been a fantastic year and I was tweeting on Tuesday that I didn’t want it to end!
It started with Alastairs view on the changes to Animation industry from the course of his career, followed by a Pirates! review of getting a feature film from stop animation… We even got to meet some of the cast!
After lunch we had a MPC Prometheus special showing us how they achieved all of the awesome epic scales to the details of the hammerpede!
Finally the final two talks were by Double negative and Disney. Double negative showcased the nail biting effects of the Skyfall chase scene and the crazy video game effects of Scott Pilgrim.
The headlining talk by Disney was done by Rob Dressel who was layout supervisor on the recently released Wreck It Ralph (which I’m a big fan if already)
The talk went over the various aspects of the film, including how they simulated objects crashing into liquidized ice cream and the shaping conventions they had for each ‘world’ in the film.
It’s been a fantastic week and Gabrielle Kent has done an amazing job organising it! Can’t wait for next year!
